Alabama’s Joey Flowers wins national construction safety award
Joey Flowers, CSPY Alabama Associated General Contractors announced this week that Joey Flowers of Marathon Electrical Contractors in Birmingham has been named Construction Safety Professional of the Year by the Associated General Contractors of America, one of the construction industry’s highest national safety honors. Flowers received the award during AGC of America’s Winter Construction Safety & Health Conference last week in Glendale, Arizona. The CSPY award is presented annually to an in-house construction safety professional who demonstrates “exceptional leadership, innovation and measurable results in advancing jobsite safety and strengthening safety culture,” Alabama AGC said in a press release. The honor recognizes people who make a lasting impact on protecting construction workers and improving project outcomes nationwide. “Joey leads by example every day and has helped create a culture where safety truly comes first,” said Bradley Brock, vice president of preconstruction. “This national recognition reflects the impact he’s had not only on our company, but on the entire industry.” Flowers serves as director of safety, training and risk management for Marathon Electrical Contractors, where he has spent more than two decades building proactive, people-focused safety programs.
