When we talk about major infrastructure projects in San Antonio, we should start with the people who do the work and with the kind of jobs those projects create. That’s why data center construction matters. Data centers are among the most construction-intensive projects being built today. They also put thousands of people to work. These facilities are large, technically complex and built over multi-year timelines, not short construction windows. A single data center project can take years to complete and require sustained coordination across multiple skilled trades. Electrical workers install and test sophisticated power systems. Mechanical and HVAC crews build and maintain industrial-scale cooling systems. Concrete and steel trades construct the physical backbone of the facility.
