About this article

First US Air Force project secured through MoD

The job will be delivered for the Defence Infrastructure Organisation on behalf of the United States Air Force, which operates from the RAF Lakenheath base. The scheme includes three new munitions handling buildings covering storage, testing, maintenance and administrative functions. It marks the first project Galliford Try will deliver directly for the US Air Force, extending its defence portfolio in the eastern region. The contractor has previously completed work at RAF Marham and RAF Coningsby. Cliff Wheatley, managing director for galliford try building, said: “We have a strong track record in delivering high quality facilities for the RAF throughout the country. We are delighted to now be working with USAF and our partners at the DIO, to deliver this complex project that is crucial to the operation of the Lakenheath base.”
