As part of her sentence, the DOJ says Power is required to pay restitution to the victim of more than $1.4 million and forfeit two houses and the horse that she bought with the stolen money.The DOJ says this was Powerâs fifth time embezzling from an employer; prior embezzlements resulted in two criminal convictions, a civil lawsuit, and a probation violation.NOVEMBER 2025:A Gardnerville woman has been found guilty of a number of financial crimes stemming from the embezzlement of money from a South Lake Tahoe construction company.Between November 2019 and May 2023, Kami Power embezzled more than $1.4 million from a construction company she was working for, according to a release from the City of South Lake Tahoe.Power used the money to buy two houses, several new cars, ATVs, a horse, and a $29,000 Hawaii vacation.What started as a local investigation after South Lake Tahoe Police were contacted by the owners of the company grew into a federal prosecution as the magnitude of the embezzle...
