Bromley builder beats Morgan Sindall to deliver Tower Hamlets rebuild

Tower Hamlets Council selected the London contractor following a competitive flexible procedure, with Morgan Sindall and Chalegrove Properties missing out. The job will see the existing leisure centre in Shadwell demolished and replaced with a modern facility alongside 29 new homes. Planned housing block at site Guildmore will also take the design through RIBA Stage 4 and deliver associated landscaping and public realm works. The three-year contract is expected to start on site in May, with completion targeted for April 2029. A standstill period runs until 17 April, with contract signing pencilled in for 27 April. The project forms part of Tower Hamlets’ wider drive to upgrade community leisure provision while unlocking small-scale housing delivery on public land.
