A limited site and nearby airspace required a carefully choreographed construction effort. The stadium’s 2,784-ton roof is supported by seven 120-ton primary trusses, the steel for which was erected from within the bowl using lattice boom crawler cranes instead of tower cranes. On the outside, a 2,791-ton diagrid structural steel frame clad in PTFE and ETFE panels gives Intuit Dome its iconic look, which was inspired by a basketball net.
