£75m Sparkle Street BTR scheme heads to safety regulator ahead of summer start
The 28-storey scheme, close to Piccadilly station, has already secured planning approval and now moves into the Building Safety Regulator approval stage with the hope of starting work this summer. JRL will deliver the 354 flats scheme through its in-house model, with Midgard acting as main contractor alongside its manufacturing and delivery businesses. It forms part of the wider Piccadilly East regeneration zone and will replace low-rise commercial units with a red-brick clad tower designed to echo Manchester’s Victorian mill heritage. Landscaped square at the foot of the new building Amenities include terrace spaces at levels 1 and 10, plus a sky lounge on level 26 offering panoramic views across the city. Construction director Robert Massey said the submission marks “a critical milestone” and confirmed the team is working towards a summer start, subject to BSR approval. The project is expected to run for around 91 weeks, with completion targeted in 2028. Other live JRL project include a 414-home BTR project on Castle Street in Luton, a 329-unit co-living scheme in Woking nearing Gateway 2 approval, and a 366-home BTR scheme at Crown Place also in Woking due to follow into the gateway process this summer.
