The half-day event is scheduled for April 14 at the Peggy Hill Team Community Centre and will bring together industry experts, labour representatives and community organizations to address psychological health and safety in the construction sector. Organizers say the session will focus on practical strategies and industry-leading approaches to creating workplaces that promote positive mental health — an issue gaining increasing attention across the industry. The agenda includes a presentation by Jennifer Prendegast on supporting neurodiverse workers in the trades, as well as a session on accommodating mental health and substance dependence led by Allyson Lee. An expert panel will also explore how unions, employers and the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association are leveraging resources and the Internal Responsibility System to strengthen mental health supports in the workplace.
