Preemployment drug screen observed

So I just had my preemployment drug screening. I was a little shocked to find out that it would be observed. I thought observed drug tests were reserved for injury/accidents, or if you have been found to tamper with the testing in the past. Is this the new normal? I passed with flying colors so that’s not what I’m worried about, you’re just I thought had more right to privacy than that, especially on a preemployment drug test. . This is in Kentucky and not for a high paying or a high risk job...
