The Rapid and Rural Logistics team at Amazon is seeking a Construction Manager (CM) with extensive experience in large-scale construction programs. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to manage the fulfillment center design process from concept to operations. Travel is required 60% of the time, and the position can be based out of any corporate Amazon facility in Washington, Texas, Colorado, or Arizona.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Request for Proposals (RFP) process and vet qualified contractor proposals.
- Coordinate with designers, building teams, and cost estimators to establish project budget, scope, and schedule.
- Assist in obtaining necessary information and decisions from Amazon for construction drawings.
- Manage approvals and permissions from building landlords.
- Facilitate information for internal Amazon functional teams (IT, Safety, Loss Prevention, Food Safety, Operations).
- Act as the primary Amazon representative for permitting with authorities having jurisdiction.
- Monitor and assist with utility integrations such as phone service, electrical power, water, and sewer.
- Serve as the principal schedule auditor, monitoring site production and tracking progress.
- Develop capital appropriation requests and manage budgets.
- Perform periodic site visits to confirm schedule progress and attend contractor meetings.
- Review contractor’s buyout, subcontracting, material purchase schedule, and long lead orders.
- Coordinate with Amazon launch/startup teams regarding schedule and phased area turnover.
- Audit contractors' punch list completion progress.
- Direct contractors through the document turnover and closeout process.
- Coordinate with Amazon property management for building facilities transition.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance standards and reduce costs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent engineering science.
- Experience as an Architect, Engineer, Construction Manager, Development Manager, or in other Commercial Development and Construction-related disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in at least two disciplines within the construction industry, such as Contracting, Owners Representation, Architecture, Design and Engineering, or Commercial Development.
- Experience in project management in construction and contracts management.
