A-Frame cabin insulation kalasady | Posted in General Questions on March 2, 2026 08:06am Hi all, I’m designing and building an a-frame cabin in central Missouri. The cabin will be used intermittently throughout the year, best case for usage is 2-4 days at a time potentially up to 10 times a year–so monthly for a long weekend. It’s totally off grid with a rainwater catchment, septic tank, and a small portable solar battery system–like EcoFlow. I’ll be using a wood burning stove for heat and propane for range and water heater, but a mini split for cooling only. The cabin is about 20×52 usable floor area with a 24 foot cathedral ceiling. My floor is an elevated wood deck on concrete piers with grade being 3-5 feet below finish floor. Any pointers on this one will be greatly appreciate it. Thank you. Given the intermittent use and it not being conditioned year round, what is the best course for insulating the rafters of the a-frame and the floor? I attached an section for reference.
