You might've been only 10 years old when you started having dreams of what you wanted to do when you grew up, inspired by all the career options you were exposed to in the classroom. For some young women, that dream is construction, even if it's been overlooked. On Wednesday, the Greater Des Moines chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) took to schools in Iowa to read a book about construction titled "Morgan Wants to Build." It was just one event of many that NAWIC hosted throughout the week they look forward to every year: Women in Construction Week. "It is a week that highlights the construction industry as a whole but really puts a spotlight on the women and what we do in the construction industry," said Ashley Culver, the president of the local chapter.
